There they square off against Peck, trying to convince the mayor that not just the city, but the world, is in danger. Peck’s belief that the Ghostbusters were drugging the city with hallucinogens is invalidated by the authorities and experts. Evidence supporting the Ghostbusters’ innocence is brought forth, humiliating Peck since he has nothing to support his claims. The mayor sides with the Ghostbusters and has a furious Peck removed from his office.

The Duplex version is a further subdivision, indicating a dual-purpose hearse/ambulance, as would likely be useful in a small town. With the bullet taillights and quad foglights being a one-year-only Cadillac feature, and many of these cars worked to death, finding one to build a replica from is hard. Estimates of how many Futura Duplexes were built ranges from a few hundred to as little as twenty-five. The Mindel’s Ecto-1, which includes Brandon’s own customized proton pack and Ghostbuster get-up, is based on a Superior ambulance rather than a Miller-Meteor, as was the original. It was also built as a hearse rather than an ambulance, with a higher floor, but during its conversion into Ecto-1, it turned out that space for the rear jumpseat didn’t require much reworking.

He purchased the vehicle for $4,800 and performed the extensive repairs needed to bring it up to a condition that would suit their needs. It was painted white with red trim, marked with the company logo on the sides and rear, and fitted with an array of equipment on the roof, and became a well-recognized symbol for the Ghostbusters franchise. The interior was modified to allow easy access to the team’s equipment (Proton Packs, ghost traps, etc.) via the rear door.

 

Notable features of the Ecto-1 include a pull-out rack in the rear (ambulance Gurney). Which holds the Ghostbusters’ proton packs and many ghost-hunting gadgets mounted on the vehicle’s roof. At almost 21 feet long and seven feet wide,  it was built from solid steel and had a stock curb weight between 7,000 and 7,300 pounds.

 

When Dana and Baby Oscar become the target of Vigo’s plot, the Ghostbusters re-enter her life to save her, Baby Oscar, and the world once again. Raymond “Ray” Stantz, another member of the Ghostbusters, is played by Dan Aykroyd in all four main series movies. He is one of the three doctors of parapsychology on the team, and Peter’s closest friend. Ray is considered the “heart” of the Ghostbusters by the other members of the team, and the second in command. Ray is characterized by his almost childlike enthusiasm towards his work, and his outspoken acceptance of paranormal activity.
